Join a government in-house legal team based in a brand new building in the city that administers the WHS Act, the OHS Act and OHS law more broadly.
The position is currently vacant due to a previous employee relocating interstate. The role will be a non-ongoing contract initially reporting to the Principal Legal Adviser and you will be required to undertake the following duties:
- Deliver quality, timely and strategic legal services
- Prepare, review and clear briefs of evidence/statutory notices
- Assist with preparation of briefing materials, formal correspondence, internal reports etc
- Manage litigation and prosecutions, including instructing external legal panel firms and counsel
- If necessary appearing as solicitor on the record for minor matters
- Prepared to travel interstate if required
To be considered for this position you must have:
- Strong file management skills
- Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills
- Knowledge management skills and the ability to use DMS
- Effective development of productive working relationships
- Previously supervised, mentored and/or trained staff
